Welcome to The Learning Place

The Learning Place is a non-profit that is dedicated to providing free adult literacy services to residents in the Syracuse inner-city neighborhoods.

What makes the center different from other local literacy providers, is that it is more family-oriented and has a more "home-like" atmosphere and students are expected to feel welcomed and learn comfortably.

Students can also partake in flexible programs that are meant to be more convenient and adjustable to their schedules.

Our key goal is to provide basic literacy services that are needed in order to survive the working environment and society. The Learning Place also provides services that are not offered at other centers, some of which include:

- Math assistance for college entrance
- Group classes for persons seeking a GED (now TASC in New York) diploma
- Financial literacy classes for persons who want to learn how to manage their money
- Assistance for individuals who wish to prepare a job resume
- Computer lab for individuals who want to learn basic computer skills
- Online access to individuals who want to learn how to use the Internet or send e-mail messages
